Blessed to experience the Bitterroots with Dennis two years in a row! Last year, we had our chance at two bulls with Dennis as our guide, one of them being a herd bull, and we got within 100 yards of each other multiple times. They won that round. We returned this year (2024), and it was a peak rut. Dennis paired us with one of his guides, and we heard 8-10 different bulls in 4 days and called two into 50 yards. We were truly in them every minute on the mountain, but we walked 40 miles on foot in 4 days. This place is steep, deep, and dark, just like Dennis says, and you'd better come ready to go for it. I would say that putting a bull down in this country with a bow is one of the toughest things you could do, but you won't beat the adventure. The food is truly awesome, and being on horses is a wildly incredible experience. If you're looking for a guaranteed kill, this isn't it, but if you want an incredible experience and are willing to work to get where the elk are... you will not be disappointed. I hope to return again one day. Nothing but love for Dennis and his whole family and crew!
